Altitude Camp
Training Camps 2025
This year I have spent a lot of time up in the mountains training at altitude.
I’ve been acclimatising to training with less oxygen amongst picturesque scenery.
Going away from home for long periods of time now is harder than ever leaving my boy Tommy. He grows every day and I notice this even more when away from home.
At the start of the summer, I spent 3 weeks in Andorra and this time I had a 3-week camp in Font Romeu. Font Romeu consisted of long rides, up to 7 hours, in seriously hot conditions, with most days being as warm as 36 degrees Celsius. The mountainous terrain meant a large accumulation of elevation gain on rides.
Time away with the GB boys allowed for lots of team bonding in the form of cooking and living together, lots of coffee stops, some fun water activities and crazy golf. This is all aimed at being as physically primed as we can be heading into the World Track Championships in October.
Life on camp is simple. Eat, ride your bike and sleep. I can be happy with the work I accomplished and if you are interested have a look on my Strava where I have posted some of my rides. Now time for some recovery and family time…..
